Mission Mars 2020

Hello all, from today onwards the "DD" team is going to start a new page, "Space Diary" to give you great information related to Space. let's get started.

Today our topic is about, all the Mars missions in 2020. Mars exploration is going to have a boost in July, as there was 4 mars mission going to launch in the same month. Let's see

Mission Mars 2020:

Perseverance Rover: Nasa is going to launch another rover in July, after their successful mission "Curiosity", "opportunity" etc. It is going to launch their Rover named, "PERSEVERANCE" on 17th July. The main goal of this mission is, searching for signs of microbial life, and to determine if the Mars environment was more hospitable to it in the past. It collects the sample of rock and regolith, and test oxygen production in the atmosphere. The rover is going to land with an autonomous Drone or Helicopter, which has no scientific instruments in it. the main goal for sending a drone is to test, the idea was awesome or dumb. pretty cool right! #Mission Mars 2020

Key Objectives: Explore a geologically diverse landing site, Assess ancient habitability, Seek signs of ancient life (particularly in special rocks), Gather rock and soil samples that could be returned to earth by a future NASA mission, Demonstrate technology for future robotic and human exploration.

More Info:
  • Launch Window: July 17 - Aug. 5, 2020 (Delayed)
  • Launch Location: Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida
  • Landing: Feb. 18, 2021
  •  Mission Duration: At least one Mars year (about 687 Earth days)

Rosalind Franklin: The robotic Mars rover is a joint mission, led by the European Space Agency and the Russian Roscosmos State Corporation. The name of this rover is "Rosalind Franklin", which is named after a pioneering scientist Rosalind Franklin. Rosalind Elsie Franklin was a British chemist and X-ray crystallographer who contributed to unraveling the double helix structure of our DNA. The main goal of this mission, the rover searches for signs of life pasta nd present. It will use a camera attached to a drill to study the soil it brings to the surface, in which it can drill up to 2 meters. The ESA is also trying to bring the mars samples back to earth, ESA is already defining a concept for a sample return mission working in cooperation with NASA.

Mission Facts:

    • Launch date: 25 July 2020 (Delayed)
    • Landing date:  March 2021
    • Mission duration: ≥ 7 months

HOPE: The United Arab Emirates is going to launch an orbiter to Mars named, "HOPE" in July. The main goal of this mission is to study the fading atmosphere of Mars, like studying the loss of hydrogen and oxygen gas on Mars. It will lift off from the japan H-IIA rocket and reach Mars by early 2021.

Key Objectives: Investigate the connection between the lower and upper levels of the martian atmosphere, Reveal the cause of martian surface corrosion, Search for connections between today's weather and the ancient climate of the red planet, Create a first global picture of how the martian atmosphere changes through the day

Mission Facts:
    • Launch date: 20 July 2020 @ 1:30 am IST
    • Landing date:  early 2021
    •  Mission duration: 200 earth days

Huoxing-1: China is also going to launch an Orbitor and Rover combo, named "Huoxing-1" or "HX-1"( it is a temporary name). It is the second attempt after their first mars orbiter was stranded in Earth's orbit and then destroyed by our atmosphere back in 2012. the objective of this mission is to search for evidence of both present and past life and to estimate the Mars environment.

Mission Facts:
    • Launch date:  July 2020
    •  Landing date:  23 April 2021
    •  Mission duration: orbiter (≥ 1 Earth year), Rover (90 sols = 93 Earth days)
This is all about the mars missions going to launch in July 2020. With these missions, the population of rovers on the red planet is going to increase and hope these will shed a light on the mystery of the planet. ISRO is going to send its second interplanetary mission in 2024 named Mangalayan- 2.
